The principle
Most of what Mogoru holds is something you deliberately made: a book you imported, a deck you built, a word you marked as known. We keep it for as long as you want it, and we delete it when you say so.
The rest — sessions, usage records, audit entries — exists to keep the service running and secure, and it ages out on a fixed schedule whether you ask or not.

What you can delete yourself, today
Each of these has a delete control in the app, and each is a real deletion rather than a hidden flag:
- A document — which also removes its uploaded files and any translations made from it.
- A tutor conversation, with its full message history.
- A deck, a deck preset, a note, a note type or a card template.
Deleting your account
Open Manage account inside Mogoru and choose to delete your account. That removes your sign-in and permanently erases everything marked “delete your account” in the table above: your library and its files, decks, cards, review history, vocabulary, tutor conversations, activity and preferences.
This cannot be undone. Export any decks you want to keep before you start.
If you would rather we did it, email [email protected] from the address on the account. We confirm it is you, and complete deletion within 30 days.
Two caches that sit outside your account
We would rather tell you about these than let you find them later.
- AI-generated dictionary entries are cached per language and headword. They are built from dictionary data alone — no text from your documents, no link to any account.
- Sentence assistance results are cached against a one-way hash so the same sentence is not paid for twice. The cached row holds the sentence itself, up to 500 characters. It carries no account identifier, no reference to your documents, and is not reachable through the app.
Because the second cache holds nothing that identifies you, deleting your account does not clear it. If that bothers you, say so at [email protected] — we would rather hear it than assume.
Taking your data with you
Every deck exports as a standard Anki .apkg file with its scheduling history intact — intervals, ease, review logs, note types, templates and media. It opens in Anki, and it is the same format Mogoru imports, so nothing traps you here.
There is no single-button export of an entire account yet. Until there is, email [email protected] and we will assemble your data for you within 30 days.
Backups
Backups exist so the service can be recovered from failure. If a backup predates your deletion, the deleted data can persist inside it until that backup rotates out of use. Backups are never used to serve the app, and never restored except to recover from a genuine failure.
