Mogoru
Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Mogoru: what we provide, what you bring, and what happens if either of us walks away.
Last updated 5 August 2026
Who provides Mogoru
Mogoru is provided by Pedro Guedes Guimarães, an individual based in Brazil, rather than by a company. Throughout these terms “we”, “us” and “our” mean him, and “you” means the person holding the account.
Using Mogoru means agreeing to these terms. If you do not, do not create an account. The Privacy Policy and the Data & Retention page form part of this agreement.
Mogoru is in open beta
Features change, occasionally break, and sometimes disappear. There is no service-level agreement and no guaranteed uptime. We would rather say that plainly than bury it, because it should shape how much you rely on Mogoru as the only home for your study material.
Every deck can be exported as a standard Anki .apkg file, with its scheduling history intact, at any time. Keep your own copies of anything you could not bear to lose.
Plans and payment
Mogoru is sold as a subscription in three tiers — Trail, Journey, and Odyssey. What each one includes, and what it costs where you are, is shown on the pricing page and again at checkout before you pay anything.
Paddle is the merchant of record for every Mogoru subscription. Your payment is a contract with Paddle, who handle the charge, the tax, and the receipt; Mogoru never sees or stores your card details.
Your first subscription opens with a 7-day free trial. It takes a payment method but charges nothing until the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing. After that the plan renews automatically for the period you chose until you cancel it.
The free trial is once per account. If you subscribe again after cancelling, Paddle may still show a trial period, but paid access resumes when the first payment lands rather than at sign-up.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. Your plan then runs to the end of the period you have already paid for, and access ends there — we do not cut it short, and we do not refund the unused remainder. If a payment fails, access continues briefly while Paddle retries before the subscription lapses.
The Refunds page sets out what can be undone after a payment, how long you have where you live, and how to ask. It forms part of this agreement.
Prices can change. An increase will be announced before it applies to you, and it never applies to a period you have already paid for.
Your account
You need an account to use Mogoru. Sign-up and sign-in are handled by our authentication provider, Clerk, which stores your credentials — we never see or store your password.
- You must be at least 13 to hold an account. If you are under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and by giving it they accept these terms on your behalf. Where the law where you live sets a higher age for agreeing to an online service on your own — 16 in much of the European Union — that age applies instead.
- An account is for one person. Do not share your credentials.
- Give us an email address you can actually receive mail at — sign-in and account notices go there.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us at [email protected] if you think someone else has access to it.
The content you bring
Mogoru is built around material you choose: books, articles, comics, PDFs and decks you import yourself. We claim no ownership of any of it. Your documents, decks, notes and tutor conversations remain yours.
You must hold the rights to what you import. Mogoru is for material you own or are otherwise licensed to read — books you bought, files you made, comics you have a copy of, decks you created or may lawfully use. Uploading material you have no right to is a breach of these terms, and it is your responsibility, not ours.
So that we can run the service for you, you grant us a limited licence to store, process and display your content — rendering it in the reader, splitting it into words, building cards from it, and syncing it across your devices. That licence exists only to operate Mogoru for you, is not transferable, and ends when you delete the content or your account.
We do not use your content to train models of our own. When you use an AI feature, the relevant text is sent to a third-party provider so that feature can work — the AI features section below sets out exactly what is sent, and the Privacy Policy goes further.
Acceptable use
While using Mogoru, do not:
- upload content that is unlawful where you are, or that you have no right to use;
- try to reach another account's library, decks or files, or to work around the boundaries that keep accounts separate;
- probe, scan, overload or attack the service, or evade rate limits and storage quotas;
- resell, sublicense or redistribute access to Mogoru;
- use the AI features to produce unlawful material, or to generate content at scale for purposes unrelated to your own study;
- upload malware, or files designed to break the importers.
AI features
Mogoru includes AI-assisted features: the tutor, sentence translation and grammar breakdown, manga bubble translation, dictionary examples, and repair of damaged text in PDFs. They are part of the product — there are no API keys to supply and no separate AI subscription.
Using one of them sends the text it needs, and for manga a cropped image of the text region, to a third-party AI provider acting on our behalf. Nothing is sent until you use a feature that needs it. Finding and reading manga text runs on Mogoru's own infrastructure rather than a third-party OCR service.
AI output can be confidently wrong. Translations, grammar explanations and tutor answers are study aids, not authority — and definitely not professional advice of any kind.
Service limits
Per-account limits keep the service stable for everybody: 500 documents, 100,000 notes, 100,000 media files, and 10 GiB of stored media. Individual uploads and AI requests also carry size and rate limits.
These are technical limits rather than a paid tier, and they can change as the service grows.
Availability and liability
Mogoru is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranty that it will be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI output will be accurate.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data where you had the means to export it and did not. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including your rights under the Brazilian Consumer Protection Code (Lei 8.078/1990) and any equivalent protection where you live.
Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts the service or other users at risk, or that the law requires us to close. Where we can, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right.
We may also stop offering Mogoru. If we do, we will give notice and a window to export your decks first.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Manage account inside Mogoru. Deleting it permanently erases your library and its files, your decks, cards and review history, your vocabulary, your tutor conversations, your activity history and your preferences.
It cannot be undone, so export anything you want to keep first. If you would rather we did it for you, email [email protected] and we will complete it within 30 days. The Data & Retention page sets out exactly what goes and what remains.
Changes to these terms
We update these pages when the service changes, and revise the date at the top. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will make it prominent rather than quietly editing the text. Continuing to use Mogoru after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and disputes belong to the courts of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
If consumer-protection law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim in your own courts, that right stands — we are not trying to take it away from you.
